ECLIPSE is an extension of Medicare's online claiming solutions, and allows for the electronic transfer of inpatient medical claims to both Medicare and the Health funds. More information regarding Eclipse can be found on the Medicare website. More information about ECLIPSE and Genie can be found here.
To assist in the setup of your private billing, please provide:
- A list of your billing items and current private fees
- If doctors charge different rates, please include fees for each doctor
- AMA fee’s if applicable (Please note AMA provides the available fee schedule for download to members on their website)
In order for ECLIPSE to be configured and used correctly you must ensure the following is completed ahead of your installation:
- Ensure you have your Medicare Site Certificate CD and Passphrase (PIC Code) ready to be loaded into Genie at your ECLIPSE installation
- Register all billing providers with Medicare for Online Claiming (this will be achieved on finalisation of the Banking Details forms with Medicare)
- Register all billing providers for No-Gap and / or Known-Gap claiming with all health funds. This must be done directly with each health fund and the AHSA
- Provide the health funds with the correct bank account details for direct deposits to billing providers
- Register any billable assistant providers with all health funds and ensure they are linked to the relevant principal billing provider/s
- Obtain the BUPA Practice ID for all billing providers
- Note all providers' hospital billing locations as Sites of Service on the Genie Pre-Installation Checklist. Your trainer will enter the required site Facility IDs based on this information.
- Ensure there are a minimum of 6-10 claims to transmit at the time of training. Due to the nature of the ECLIPSE process we are unable to train in a demonstration environment. It is helpful to have claims across a variety of health funds and for various billing scenarios
We have already sourced some of the website links for each participating fund so you don’t have to! If a fund is not on the list below you will need to contact them directly.
